Aloo Tikki (Potato Cutlets)

Ingredients:

- 4 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed

- 1/2 cup bread crumbs

- 1/4 cup finely chopped onions

- 2 tablespoons finely chopped coriander leaves

- 1 green chili, finely chopped

- 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste

- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder

- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder

- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder

- 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala

- Salt to taste

- Oil for frying

Step 1: Prepare the Mixture

1. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, bread crumbs, chopped onions, coriander leaves, green chili, ginger paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, chaat masala, and salt.

2. Mix everything together until well combined and the mixture holds its shape.

Step 2: Shape the Aloo Tikki

1. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into round patties or cutlets.

2. Flatten each portion slightly using your palms to form the tikki shape.

Step 3: Cook the Aloo Tikki

1. Heat oil in a shallow pan or skillet over medium heat.

2. Carefully place the shaped tikkis onto the hot oil.

3. Cook the tikkis for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown and crispy.

4. Flip them gently using a spatula to ensure even cooking on both sides.

5. Once done, remove the tikkis from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.

Step 4: Serve the Aloo Tikki

1. Aloo tikkis can be served as a standalone snack or used in various chaat preparations.

2. Place the hot aloo tikkis on a serving plate.

3. You can garnish them with a sprinkle of chaat masala and additional chopped onions and coriander leaves.

4. Serve them with mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or ketchup for dipping.

Aloo tikki can be enjoyed as a delicious snack on its own or used to make popular Indian street food like Aloo Tikki Chaat, Ragda Pattice, or Aloo Tikki Burger. Enjoy the crispy and flavourful goodness of Aloo Tikki!
